By Megan Izen Most college students don’t know exactly what they’ll do after graduation. But for some students, even a bachelor’s degree doesn’t mean they’ll be able to work. Undocumented students like Lehman College freshman Marlen Fernandez pursue higher education hoping their circumstances will change.
This American flag is located at Ellis Island in the Registry Room, also know as the Great Hall. Here, officers conducted quick health examinations and registered immigrants. About 1.7 million people visited Ellis Island in 2007, according to the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. You can search arrivals to Ellis Island from 1892-1924.
