When I first saw this image, my heart melted. I connected with the photographer on an emotional level as a photojournalists. At times, I find the artistic photographer in me and the journalist in me having a tug-of-war for the best way to convey a message. I believe this photo successfully and peaceably binds the two. But enough of the mushy stuff. This photo is so involved from foreground to background, from left to right, with no negative space in between. The use of selective in the storytelling worked beautifully. Perhaps my ultimate aspect of the image is the composition. My eyes are taken on a carefully guided journey through the image and leaves nothing to be desired. As the viewer, I feel like I have learned something new and am happy with the delivery of that message. As a photojournalist, I am at ease with every layer of this image. What else can I say?!
